The industry is mourning the loss of Charles ‘Mac’ McCarthy CBE, founder and former chairman of McCain Foods, who died on New Year’s Eve.

McCarthy started the company from an office above his garage in Grimsby and led it for 32 years before retiring in December 1997, just before his 70th birthday.

“Mac played a vital role in building and living the values that still makes McCain such a special place to work,” said McCain GB’s regional CEO Nick Vermont.
