The industry is mourning the loss of well-respected Spar retailer Stan Moore, who passed away on 29 June aged 87.

Moore, who ran a c-store in Stafford for 30 years, was described as a “pioneer of the Spar convenience concept”.

He was the first independent to introduce in-store scanning and extended trading hours.

“Stan will be greatly missed by friends and colleagues and our thoughts are with Stan’s family, Karen and Steve, at this time,” Spar said.
