The brand claimed that the yoghurt alternative was the first in the UK to be fortified with Bifidobacterium BB-12

Cocos Organic has launched a new dairy-free natural yoghurt alternative made with 96% organic coconut milk and fortified with live bacteria strains.

Light Natural (rsp: £4.95/400g) is available now in Ocado and Abel & Cole.

Cocos Organic claimed the NPD was first in the UK to be fortified with the Bifidobacterium BB-12 bacteria strains – which it said had been proven to have benefits for digestive issues, respiratory conditions, oral health, immunity and mental health.

The yoghurt alternative is a new variation of the brand’s classic Natural recipe, but now contains less than 10% fat and is 115 calories per 100g. The recipe also includes  calcium, magnesium, fibre, vitamin B12, vitamin D and medium chain fatty-acids.

“Perfect for any time of day,” the product was so versatile it could be “enjoyed on its own, straight from the pot, or as an ingredient within both sweet and savoury culinary creations”, said Cocos Organic – which is owned by Met Foods, the manufacturer of fellow dairy alternative Nush.

It was ideal “at breakfast, as a healthy on-the-go snack, a post-gym pick-me-up or as a nutritious and satisfying gut-supporting pudding”, it added.
