PLB Group is adding a black variant to its range of Brazilian beers to cash in on growing enthusiasm for foreign drinks.

With an abv of 4.6%, Xingu is the first authentic black Brazilian lager to gain listings in the UK, according to the company.

The beer's black colour is down to a malting process that uses a variety of black roast malts grown from South American barley. A marketing tie-in with UK alternative music festival Festinho in September will support the beer and its sister brand Palma Louca, launched in 2008. Xingu rolls into Tesco this month (rsp: £1.40/355ml bottle).
