Sid Singh, founder of Made With Joy Lassi drinks, on war movies, the purpose of business and his love of cows
What was your first-ever job? My first job was selling electronics at a concession in Selfridges London. It was my dream job; I love electronics and here I had the chance to play with them all day under the guise of 'selling' them.
What was your worst job interview? Let's just say it lasted five minutes and I didn't get the job!
What was the first music single you bought? I think it might have been by Michael Jackson, the King of Pop.
How do you describe your job to your mates? Spreading joy! And selling some of the finest yoghurt lassis in the world.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Seeing customers being very pleasantly surprised when they try our drinks.
What is the least rewarding part? Running around trying to raise money. It distracts from growing the business.
What is your motto in life? The purpose of all business is to benefit the community and society. We have these wonderful resources, the smartest people and the best technology and if all we use them for is making money, we're doing something very wrong.
What's your nickname? Sid. It's short for Siddharth and easier to say.
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? I would love to have a herd of cows that I could keep in the communal gardens or any of the parks. It would make things so much more fun all the milk you like and organic fertiliser for all the plants!
What's your favourite movie and why? Saving Private Ryan I am big fan of war movies, and Tom Hanks is awesome.
What was the most embarrassing moment in your life? Waking up at the exact same time as I was supposed to be in a meeting with my bosses and the CEO! Everyone stared as I walked in late with the presentations for the meeting.
If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be and why? I would love to have Steve Jobs here. It's his dress sense: so classy and understated and of course a genius mind!
If you could change one thing in grocery what would it be? I'd make the industry more democratic, and let consumers decide what they'd like. We also need a better way to limit wastage and slightly more understanding of seasonality.
What animal best reflects your personality and why? A cow, I love cows, so gentle, so helpful, they give us milk and chow down our grass!
