As part of its commitment to raise the profile of beer in the UK, the Beer Naturally campaign hosted a pilot lager tasting supported by a wide range of brewers this week.
Attended by members of the national press, the Coors Brewers-organised event introduced visitors to beer using different comparisons such as colour, provenance, abv or raw materials. A spokeswoman for Coors said: “We are trying to educate people to develop a better understanding of the different types of lager.”
Unusual lagers at the event included one of the strongest in the world, Samichlaus from Castle brewery in Austria, at 14% abv, and the maize-based Kenyan Tusker beer.
