This is a big week for Tesco. Are you excited about Jack’s? Yes, I’m really looking forward to seeing what it looks like and what they’ve done with it. Our store manager was at a big briefing about it so I’m sure he will fill us all in.

How is the new Healthy Swaps initiative with Jamie Oliver going? It’s going well and it’s great to have Jamie on board. There’s definitely a lot of chit-chat in stores among customers and colleagues.

Tesco is really pushing its exclusive brands right now. How are they going down with shoppers? They have been doing well. Customers have gotten used to them very quickly and come up and ask us for them by name if they can’t find them. They are good quality and value and so they are selling well.

Are shoppers missing Brand Guarantee? I don’t think they are. I think shoppers just want more low prices in general. I always like to keep a close eye and ear on what is happening in the store and this often means jumping on a checkout and certainly I haven’t had any disgruntled shoppers - none of them have mentioned it.

The store turned 30 this year - was there a big celebration? Yes, it was opened in June 1988 so we had a big party in town back in the summer and it was great to celebrate with all the colleagues.

How do you maintain strong customer service? It is absolutely key to everything we do in the store. Our complete ethos is about delivering the very best shopping experience for customers. All our colleagues are passionate about it and lots of them will go above and beyond in delivering for customers.

Is the store gearing up for Christmas yet? Yes - the first Christmas lines have started to come into stores. We also have Halloween stock coming in so it’s going to be a very busy few months. It always is, but we love it.
