Dematic has launched an app that allows businesses to manage their entire warehouse and distribution operation from their smartphone or tablet.
“Mobile Monitor” offers warehouse managers a bird’s-eye view of the entire site, and can zoom in and out of areas for greater detail.
Managers can also access interactive dashboards showing performance KPIs, labour statistics and progress in specified areas, from receiving to shipping.
Dematic claimed that it provided real-time information to help users to keep facility operations “running at optimal levels, even from off-site locations, with an intuitive interface that is simple to understand and easy to use”.
A spokesman added: “Our goal is to enhance our customers’ ability to make informed decisions for operational improvement.”
Dean Lantinga, warehouse manager for Notions Marketing, which trialled the app and ships thousands of orders a day, said: “It provides me with a mobile office to manage my staff remotely. It has saved me an average of one hour per day in travel time, giving me more time to work with employees.”
