A state-of-the-art automated packing machine is bringing huge benefits to Univeg.
The machine at the Kirton packhouse in Lincolnshire, reduces bruising in cauliflower and broccoli florets.
Operations manager Ian Jackson also said the system was more hygienic as it had shortened the period product spent out of chilled storage from several hours to 30 minutes.
Jackson said the machine would be a big help following a growth in demand: "I believe we are seeing growth of ready-to-cook mixed vegetable packs."
