The future of one of North Wales' last remaining abattoirs has been secured after administrators found a buyer.

The sale of Cig Cibyn abattoir, in Caernarfon, had been agreed with Irish company Sher Foods, according to joint administrators CLB Coopers and Gwynedd Council.

Cig Cibyn is one of only two working abattoirs left in North Wales. It is expected to return to full production following an upgrade in the next few weeks.

CLB Coopers said it was realising assets and hoped to pay a dividend to the unsecured creditors by the end of the year.
