Dawn Farm Foods, the Irish cooked meat ingredient company, has announced a €28m investment at its food campus at Naas, which includes a €14m investment in R&D incorporating a Meat Science Centre.
The company aims to generate a further €60m in new sales in Europe to take its turnover to €300m by 2011. One hundred new jobs are being created.
Larry Murrin, chief executive, said: "The Meat Science Innovation Centre will be committed to technical excellence and innovation in cooked meat protein and will be complemented by a programme of continuous investment in research into emerging consumer trends in convenience, health and wellness, and indulgence."
Dawn Farm Foods is known in Britain as a multi-species supplier of individually quick frozen and chilled cooked meats for supply to ready meal manufacturers, and the pizza, sandwich and foodservice sectors.
