One of the latest players in the symbol sector has come from an unexpected quarter. Quix is a symbol developed by the Newsagents Federation to help CTNs diversify into the more lucrative c-store market. There are currently 55 stores operating under the fascia and Rod Stevens, head of the NFRN's trading arm, predicts there will be 250 by the end of next year. Currently it has has no single supplier, but its preferred wholesaler, the recently formed Blueheath, says it will cover the UK mainland by next summer. Other symbol groups have predictably criticised the NFRN's move, saying there is no need for another symbol group, but the sub postmasters federation is known to be considering whether a similar initiative, possibly with P&H McLane, would benefit its members. {{FEATURES }}
