Phil Ryle takes over from Greencore’s CEO Tony Hynes who had been interim MD of the division, which makes own label pizza for many of the multiples and employs 600 people at its sites in Deeside and Salford. Ryle joined Greencore in February 2002 as operations director at Hazlewood Prepared Foods’ quiche and ready meals facility. He became operations director of the pizza division one year later. Before that he was MD of a natural foods company after 17 years with Airbus Industries.
Hynes said: “I am delighted that we have been able to make an internal appointment to this position.”
