Adam Leyland is to take the helm of The Grocer magazine when he joins as editor on 2 October.

Leyland joins The Grocer from Caspian's Real Business magazine, which he edited. Prior to that, he was the editor of PrintWeek and Press Gazette, before leaving for New York to launch the US version of Haymarket's PR Week. Leyland, who wants to focus heavily on The Grocer's online offer, said: "I'm delighted to be joining The Grocer. It's the biggest and best B2B magazine in the UK, for the largest, most diverse and most dynamic industry in the country.

"There are so many

fascinating issues to get

my teeth into, like the power of the supermarkets, health and environmental concerns, as well as a renewed interest in old-fashioned virtues like

taste and individuality."

Leyland replaces Julian Hunt who, after nine years working for The Grocer,

the final four as its editor, has joined the Food and Drink Federation.
