Holsten has ruled out a move from cans into PET bottles, despite investing 17m in a new plant to produce the bottles in Germany.
The brewer said although it currently has no plans to change packaging across the range, the capability is there to do so in the future.

eisberg relaunch
First Drinks has revamped its low alcohol wine brand Eisberg, following consumer research.
The brand is being relaunched with a new look plus an improved taste across the range, which now includes a rosé as well as an improved Chardonnay and Riesling.
The company estimates that retailers stand to make an additional £1.2m in sales from the category, which has suffered because of poor merchandising and support.

waitrose supplier
Italian producer Moncaro, imported into the UK by Eurowines, has been chosen to supply Waitrose with the supermarket's first own label organic wines.
The red and white pair, sourced from the Marche region of Italy, launch next month and will retail for £4.99.
Marche Bianco is a blend of Verdicchio and Trebbiano, while Marche Rosso will use Montepulciano and Sangiovese.

warning to italy
Italian wine producers need to invest in a dedicated marketing initiative to target UK consumers or risk losing market share, the Wine & Spirit Association has warned.
Addressing delegates at the first meeting between representatives from the UK and Italian industries for six years, the association's chairman, Jo Williamson, said that funding a generic campaign was the best way to help the country compete with other regions.
