Food industry veteran Eric Jameson has died peacefully at his home aged 89. Jameson was general sales manager of Alfred Bird & Son in the 1960s, and was marketing director of General Foods before starting his own management and marketing consultancies. He helped to launch the gourmet frozen food sector as chairman of Alverton Kitchens, sold in 1977 to United Biscuits. Jameson was also a council member of the Food Manufacturers' Federation during the 1960s and 1970 and was a member of the IGD Council from 1974 to 1985. He was awarded the OBE in 1980 for services to the food industry. {{NEWS }}
