Grocer Today, the ground-breaking on-line information service from The Grocer goes live on Monday. Available free to subscribers to The Grocer, the service provides retail and fmcg news, updated three times a day, access to Grocer Directories so that users can instantly trace brands and their owners, plus a complete breakdown of deals and promotions running in big multiples and the trade's leading wholesale depots. "It's fantastic value," said Jerry Gosney, William Reed's chief operating officer. "The Grocer's news coverage is legendary. Now we can keep delivering daily, giving readers all the latest stories almost as soon as they happen. We've been testing Grocer Today for the past six weeks and our trial panel have given the daily service a big thumbs up." Grocer Today provides on-line access to the contents of the last six years of The Grocer, an unbeatable archive of facts, events, features, prices, promotions and people. All subscribers are being mailed with their personal number that allows entry to The Grocer Today site. News is updated three times a day, with the first bulletin available at 8.30am. Readers can opt to have bulletins e-mailed to their desktop. The Find It section is quick and easy to use, holding details on 12,000 suppliers and manufacturers and 17,000 brands. Find It also has listings of service companies, such as PR firms and packaging specialists. "We're already planning to expand the offering," said Gosney. "We're asking readers to submit details so we can build a fantastic database of anybody and everybody in the grocery sector. As a bit of fun, we're calling it Ivan Ego!" {{NEWS }}
