Plastic punnet specialist Sharp Interpack has been sold to French packaging giant Groupe Guillin.
Sharp, which supplies a wide range of punnets, trays and other rigid plastic packaging to fresh produce, meat, ready meal and bakery manufacturers, has sites in Ayelsham, Bridgwater and Yate and annual turnover of £86m.
The acquisition means Guillin now conducts more than 60% of its business outside France.
“The combination of Groupe Guillin’s expertise alongside Sharp Interpack’s UK market experience allows Guillin to strengthen its leading position on the European market for fruit and vegetables, and expand its strategic position in the industry and develop new industrial and commercial relationships for meat products,” the company said in a statement.
