Confectionery maker Fox's has reopened two of the four product lines it was forced to suspend at its Leicester plant after the discovery of salmonella a fortnight ago.

The contamination,

which was identified

during in-house testing,

has been traced to a batch

of Brazil nuts.

The company said none of the affected products were released into the market.

"After all the necessary equipment has been subjected to an extensive cleaning programme, independent external experts will carry out swab testing and analysis before declaring the plant to be clear of all contamination," said a spokesman.

Fox's Glacier mints, Paynes Poppets, Just Brazils and XXX Mints are produced at the plant.

The Food Standards Agency said it was satisfied the affected stock did not reach consumers.
