A new entrant to the male grooming market is set to soften up the category.
Flavashave shave enhancer is a new concept and the first male grooming product launch from Watford-based company ACT Products.
The shave enhancer reduces the risk of shaving rashes by removing calcium and magnesium ions from water.
A small amount of the blue liquid added to shaving water will soften the water, which, according to company founder Andrew Tinsley, increases razor glide over the skin’s surface and produces better shaving results.
The shave enhancer is currently being sold on Flavashave’s website at £4.99 for a 250ml bottle and can also be purchased as part of a shaving kit (£9.99), which contains the shave enhancer, a 100ml tube of spearmint shave gel (also sold separately at £4.99), and a bristle shaving brush.
But Tinsley is currently seeking a distributor to gain listings in both the pharmacy and grocery trade. He said he believed there was a big opportunity for the kit, and in particular the shave enhancer, as 70% of the UK has hard water.
Tinsley said he developed the shave enhancer after he found he was able to have a better and rash-free shave during an overnight stay in Buxton, a soft water area.
