The Grocer is planning to mark the first anniversary of the publication of the government’s Health White Paper with a unique half-day seminar in London.
The event - which aims to bring together the key stakeholders in the food and health debate - takes place at Central Hall in Westminster on November 22. It is free to attend, but on an invitation-only basis.
It will explore three key themes: what has the industry achieved in the year since the White Paper was published? What else still needs to be done? And how can dialogue between key stakeholders be improved? Keynote speakers include Julia Unwin, deputy chairwoman of the Food Standards Agency; Gavin Neath, chairman of Unilever UK, and president of the Food and Drink Federation; and Joanne Denney-Finch, chief executive of industry thinktank IGD. The Department of Health has also been invited to send a speaker to the event.
The issues will also be discussed by a panel of experts - including Jeremy Preston of the Food Advertising Unit, Andrew Opie of the British Retail Consortium and John Dyson of the British Hospitality Association.
The Food and Drink Federation, the British Retail Consortium, the British Soft Drinks Association, the British Cake Chocolate & Confectionery Association, the Provision Trade Federation and Dairy UK are all backing our seminar.
And the specialist food law group of solicitors Eversheds is supporting it. “We are proud to be the sponsors of The Grocer’s event,” said Stephen Hopkins, head of the Eversheds’ food law group.
