A new blended malt whisky selected by Prince Charles has been heralded as a landmark for the industry.

The new whisky, called Barrogill, is a blend of single malts from distilleries in the north Highlands of Scotland.

It is the result of a partnership between Inver House Distillers and Mey Selections, a company that has emerged from the North Highland Initiative, which was launched by Prince Charles in 2005.

The whisky is full bodied, floral and sweet. It will retail across the UK, rsp £19.99.

"This is a landmark product for the whisky industry in the North Highlands," said Dr John Strak, MD of North Highland Products.
