Each episode will explore guests’ lives through food

Waitrose has debuted a podcast focusing on sharing guests’ memories associated with food.

Life on a Plate will be hosted by restaurant critic Jimi Famurewa and Waitrose Food magazine editor Alison Oakervee.

Each 30 to 45-minute episode will feature an interview with a well-known guest, exploring their life through food from childhood memories to work, relationships and passions.

The first instalment launched today (7 January) and features food writer, presenter and The Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain discussing food waste and recipes.

Future guests include Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge and comedian Sarah Millican.

“We’re thrilled to be launching this brand-new podcast, and it could only ever be about one thing: food,” said Martin George, customer director at Waitrose. “Food is central to everyone’s story; we all have something to say about it – no matter what our career or life experience is. Through food we can talk about our past, our present and our future, touching on the things that join us all together and the things that set individuals apart. The conversations Alison and Jimi have with our guests range from moving to funny, but are always entertaining and inspiring, and I can’t wait for people to hear the podcast.”

Life on a Plate is available on all major podcast platforms.
