Foodservice wholesaler Q Catering is to expand its warehouse, adding an extra 11,600 sq ft of storage facilities to its Sittingbourne site.

The company said the expansion was necessary in order to meet rising demand from customers for frozen goods and to fulfil ambitious plans to increase its presence in the south east.

It comes as Q Catering implements an investment plan that will see it drive towards a goal of £20m turnover by 2030.

“It’s been an exciting week at Q Catering. We’ve been planning this extension for almost a year now, so it’s great to finally see it come to life,” said Q Catering MD Steve Clarke.

“We’ve transformed our original unit, which has been good to us for over 12 years, into an 11,000 sq ft state-of-the-art freezer to increase our cold store offering and keep up with the increasing demand for frozen foods and trends in the category.

“Caterers are looking for both high-quality foods and convenience in the kitchen, so we are expanding our frozen offering to help them stay one step ahead.”

The business announced the appointment of Clarke earlier this year after he purchased a substantial shareholding in the business.
