Tesco is set to turn the first floor of its Kensington superstore into a new flagship branch of its F&F clothing chain.

The 5,000 sq ft unit is due to open in late October or early November, the retailer confirmed today.

Clothing has been identified as a major part of CEO Philip Clarke’s overhaul of the UK operation, as Tesco retreats from areas such as consumer electronics, and F&F is expected to play a big role in the launch of new and refurbished stores.

Sources say the move is aimed at giving Tesco’s clothing area more of a boutique feel.

Tesco already has F&F standalone stores in central Europe and franchises outlets in the Middle East.
