Elbrook Cash & Carry has reported a 24% drop in full-year profits.

Pre-tax profits fell to £1.8m in the year to 31 July 2013, down from £2.4m in the previous 12 months, according to accounts filed at Companies House. However, sales rose 11% to £143.1m.

The firm’s directors said they were “pleased with the increase in turnover” and aimed to sustain this level going forward. They added that they planned to increase sales at Elbrook’s Chak 89 arm, which was launched in 2003 and covers function hall hire, catering and restaurants.

Last month, managing director Fukhera Khalid told The Grocer the company was planning to expand its food production business in 2014.
