US snack company Popchips has a new MD in the form of Paul Davis

Former Kettle Foods MD Paul Davis is to take the helm at US snack company Popchips.

Davis will take over the day-to-day running of the company as CEO, with chairman Keith Belling, who co-founded the company in 2007, concentrating on the company’s global strategy. Co-founder Patrick Turpin will remain involved, Popchips said.

Davis started his career at Procter & Gamble and later served as president, North America at Starbucks and at pasta brand Barilla. He spent 14 years at Pepsi-Co’s snack brand Frito-Lay before joining Kettle Foods in 2005 as global CEO. More recently he was the CEO of Coinstar/Redbox, a business that developed coin-counting machines to convert coins into charity donations or gift cards.

“Paul’s record of achievement combined with his leadership, operating experience, passion for great brands and innovation make him the ideal candidate to lead Popchips into the future,” Belling said.

Davis, who will oversee all Popchips operations in the US, Canada and UK, has been recruited to focus on developing and growing the Popchips brand and better-for-you snacking category, as well as implementing creative marketing campaigns and innovations.
