Chicken giant 2 Sisters has accused Unite of "bullying" it in the ongoing worker race row.
The union organised demonstrations outside M&S in Birmingham last weekend in protest at the sacking of 54 workers and five union reps who went on strike in defence of a colleague they claimed had been racially abused.
However 2 Sisters said Unite's claims were "so wholly inaccurate and grossly misleading that they are tantamount to bullying". The incident had been thoroughly investigated and no evidence of racist abuse was found, it said. Workers had been dismissed for taking part in "illegal and unconstitutional" strike action.
The Birmingham site did not even supply the M&S store, 2 Sisters added. "Unite's continued aggressive approach to this case threatens our future in Birmingham and that of the 500-strong workforce we employ at this site."
