Wine importer Lovico is expanding out of its Bulgarian supply base and relaunching as Epoch Wines. Following the reorganisation of its Bulgarian parent company, LVC Gamza, it has greater freedom to source wines in Bulgaria and will be selling more styles to the UK and international markets. It will also be developing wine ranges from other countries. The first of these will be from Chile and will arrive in this country in April. They will shortly be followed by a collection from Spain. Commercial director Paul Scaife said: "The reorganisation will give us a different approach to our suppliers and the opportunity to supply them with a greater variety of wines." The relaunch of the company also includes the introduction of a Quality Charter designed to address suppliers' concerns about the quality and consistency of Bulgarian wines. Scaife said: "Bulgarian wines need to gain credibility and this will help that. The country's wine sales in the UK have been declining as a result of the growth of New World styles and the wines need to justify their shelf space. We can do this by guaranteeing levels of their quality and service." The majority of the wines sell below £3.99 and Scaife is working on a premium range which will launch in the autumn at £4.99. The company is continuing its promotional support with an Images of Bulgaria campaign. This features a series of onpack offers, the first of which will run in the Bargain Booze chain from February 14. {{DRINKS }}
