TEA WARS BOIL
n More than £22m is being poured into the tea category's marketing cup by rival tea brands PG Tips and Tetley.
n PG Tips owner Unilever Bestfoods is also bringing out Freeflow bags, made from a natural fibre and said to allow tea to flow more freely. It is backing the newcomer to the tune of £12m.
n Arch-rival Tetley will hit back with a £10m campaign building on last year's healthy brand positioning.

NO MORE WISPA
n Cadbury Trebor Bassett is renaming several chocolate countlines and bringing them under the Dairy Milk banner as part of a strategy to extend its superbrand.
n Wispa will become Dairy Milk Bubbles, while Caramel and Turkish Delight will also be rebranded.
n The decision echoes the confectionery category's trend towards brand consolidation. Galaxy owned by rival Masterfoods already covers 15 sub-brands.

FROST BITE
n Heinz is extending into frozen microwaveable snacks with the launch of nine Bite Me products including pizza wedges and garlic pizza toast.
n The move comes just weeks after the company announced it was ditching its Pizza Pleasure and Main Street Bistro ranges.
n A £2m ad campaign will back the newcomers, in freezers from the middle of June.

RED AND GREEN
n Scottish Courage is giving its John Smith's beer brand a new look. The Bitter version will appear in red cans featuring an Original' tag, while Extra Smooth retains a green exterior with a silver trim.
n The company is also reviewing the future of its ale brands to focus on power brands.
