The consumer
Like other drinks in the Crabbie's range, this comes in an attractive and colourful glass bottle. The drink itself is very enjoyable and gives a warm feeling after just a few sips. It is sweet and flavoursome and the spices give it a lovely kick. It tastes as good as other mulled wines, but perhaps could have done with a touch more ginger as this is its distinction. All in all, a nice festive tipple. Four stars (out of five)

The retailer
Crabbie's Mulled Ginger Wine is a good alternative to mulled wine and an ideal winter seasonal drink. It will be popular with drinkers of ginger wine and mulled wine, and will also ride on the success of the Crabbie's alcoholic ginger beer, of which sales have exceeded expectations. There is a good balance of fruit alongside hints of ginger, which is synonymous with Crabbie's. Three stars

The Grocer
A branded mulled wine was long overdue and Crabbie's, with its heritage and nostalgic look, is the perfect brand to break the mould. Although the label isn't completely clear on what the drink contains, the mix of ginger wine and mulling spices is delicious if just a touch too sweet and it's a very reasonable price at £4.99. I think it could be a big hit over the festive season and it certainly provides an interesting twist on conventional mulled wine. Four stars
