All About Food is targeting what it describes as the "untapped" market for Spanish cooking sauces with its latest restaurant link-up.

The company, which produces Pizza Express, Nando's and Wagamama grocery products, is to launch a four-strong range of cooking sauces under Spanish restaurant brand La Tasca this summer.

Developed with the restaurant chain's head of food, the line-up comprises: spicy tomato and garlic sauce Bravas; white wine, garlic and red pepper sauce Marbella; chunky tomato, garlic and herb sauce Jardinera; and smokey tomato, paprika and red bell pepper sauce Pimienta. The sauces carry a £1.79 rsp and are designed to let consumers make dishes from the La Tasca menu at home.

The majority of Spanish cooking sauces on the market were generic products used for a limited range of dining occasions, said All About Food marketing director Ben Johnson. "There are no real branded Spanish sauces out there and those that are available tend to be used for informal family occasions," he said. "What these sauces bring to the market is an inherent flexibility, credibility and unique flavours."

All About Food, which is discussing listings for the range with major retailers, said the launch would be supported by a marketing campaign targeting customers who visit La Tasca's 61 UK restaurants.

According to a 2010 Kantar TGI survey, 2.3% of Brits said they had visited a Spanish restaurant in the past three months, compared with 13.1% who had visited a pizza place and 17.3% who had been to an Indian restaurant.
