Symington’s has recalled a batch of Ragu lasagne sauce over fears it could present a food safety risk.

A single batch of 454g jars of Ragu White Lasagne Sauce contained a small proportion of jars in which the measured pH results did not comply with food industry safety standards for pasteurised products, said Symingtons’s. According to the Food Standards Agency, this may present “a potential microbiological food safety risk to consumers”.

In a statement, Symington’s said: “We apologise to retailers and our customers for any inconvenience caused. Product safety, quality and trust in our food is of paramount importance and we take all issues regarding production of our food extremely seriously.”

The affected batch is: Ragu White Lasagne Sauce 454g; barcode (EAN) 5050665016231; production ‘Julian’code L416200086; time codes 17.14 – 18.01; best before 06/2016.

The recall does not affect any other Ragu or Symington’s products.
