Supermarkets are adjusting their hours over Christmas and new year, with all major chains closing on Christmas Day. Most will also shut on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, though some convenience stores will stay open.

Aldi
Aldi’s holiday opening times give store staff days off on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Asda stores will follow usual opening hours leading up to Christmas, with the following changes for the festive season.

Stores are open for longer in the run-up to the big day, allowing customers to shop until midnight. Booths cafés won’t close this year and will remain open during the festive season.

Iceland
Iceland stores will be closed on Christmas Day. On Boxing Day, select stores in London and surrounding areas will open, typically from 9am to 6pm/8pm. Many stores around Manchester will be open on Boxing Day from 10am-5pm.
From 27 December to New Year’s Eve, stores will mostly be open for normal hours. For New Year’s Day hours vary significantly across regions. Customers are advised to check their local store’s opening times online for the most accurate information.

Lidl
Lidl stores will close on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, with most also remaining closed on Boxing Day. To avoid peak times, Lidl recommends shopping between 8am and 10am or after 6pm, as lunchtime typically sees the highest footfall.

Marks & Spencer
All M&S stores will be closed on Christmas Day. Outlet stores and a small number of convenience stores will be open on Boxing Day. All stores will reopen on 27 December and customers are able to buy M&S Food in partner BP fuel stations throughout the holidays.
Most stores will close on New Year’s Day with the exception of a small number of convenience stores which are run by franchise partners.

Waitrose and Little Waitrose stores will close early on Christmas Eve – check your branch for specific opening hours. Stores are closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
