Asda has introduced Cornish Crystal potatoes to its Extra Special range.

The potatoes have a creamy, soft and tender flesh with a fluffy skin.

Grown in Cornwall and supplied through QV Foods, they are harvested about two weeks ahead of other mainland new potatoes ­because of the warmth Cornwall receives from the Gulf Stream.

The potatoes (rsp: £1 for 750g) went into Asda stores last week.

Last week, Fenmarc launched its Belana potato variety direct to the retail trade for the first time.
