Asda has launched Fairtrade limes from Brazil for Fairtrade Fortnight.
The Brazilian limes are in Asda stores nationwide from this week and will be available until the end of May. There will then be a gap in availability before Egyptian Fairtrade limes are introduced for the first time from August.
Limes are receiving a boost in popularity as consumers are choosing them over lemons as a cookery ingredient and with drinks, the supermarket said.
Asda is now selling almost 25,000 limes each week, and claims to sell twice as many Fairtrade citrus fruits as any other major supermarket.
