Asda has slashed the price of 3,600 essential products in what the supermarket claims is its biggest price rollback campaign for a decade.

The average price of the products will be cut by 13% for a minimum of six to 12 weeks, Asda said. Products affected include potatoes, carrots, grapes, bananas, milk, nappies, rice, bread, cheese and yoghurt.

The rollback campaign was the biggest for 10 years because of the breadth of products included, it said, with one in five of its available products now cheaper.
