Scottish seafood supplier Associated Seafoods has acquired smoked salmon producer Lossie Seafoods for an undisclosed amount.

Associated Seafoods said it had been attracted to Lossie Seafoods’ thriving export business and highly specialised workforce. Associated Seafoods chairman Bill Hazeldean, said: “The company will now move to use its considerable expertise in the seafood sector to further diversify Lossie Seafoods’ strong export base of niche, quality bespoke salmon to premium clientele.”

Lossie Seafoods exports primarily to Italy and Switzerland, with increased volumes of smoked salmon also going to Mexico, Jordan, Lebanon and Hawaii. Victor West, formerly business development director at Food Partners, has been appointed as the new MD of Lossie Seafoods.

This is the first time Associated Seafoods has acquired another company. Funding for the deal has been provided by Scottish Seafood Investments, a joint venture company set up by The Scottish Salmon Company and Northern Link.
