A director from Aston Manor Brewery has been jailed for 18 months for masterminding a plot to contaminate a rival cidermaker HP Bulmer’s drinks.

Aston Manor lost a big contract to Bulmer from Booker's cash and carry which drove Michael Hancocks to recruit a chemist to produce a yeast-based bacteria to put in the cider that could cause sickness and diarrhoea.

The plot failed when an insider hired to add the chemical to cider at Bulmer’s went to the police.
