Though Morrisons and Safeway remain at numbers one and two respectively, Morrisons has pulled further ahead of the field and extended its lead to six percentage points.
Asda moves up one place to number three, forcing Tesco down one spot.
Alcoholic drinks stands even further ahead in the category chart this week with 12 percentage points separating it from frozen at number two. Although alcoholic drinks is not supported by any particularly dominant brands it still maintains its position with multiple promotions on a wide variety of beers and lagers.
There is also an increasing number of offers on spirits along with a number of promotions on wine. Frozen comes into the chart as a new entry at number two, with the category dominated by buy one get one free offers. There is just one percentage point separating positions two and five which is held by soft drinks which re-enters the chart this week.
Cadbury's holds the number one spot in the brand chart with a variety of promotions in confectionery and cakes and biscuits.
Heinz and Kellogg's remain in the same positions as last week while Birds Eye moves up from number six to number three. There are five new entries in the chart including McVitie's, Princes and Fox's. Both McVitie's and Fox's are becoming more prominent in store due in part to the introduction of boxes and tins of biscuits aimed at the Christmas market.
In the own label category chart, frozen remains at number one. Cakes and biscuits comes in as a new entry at two, featuring price promotions on gondola ends. Soft drinks slips one place to number three.
