Raisio, the owner of Benecol, is set to acquire confectionery manufacturer Glisten as part of a £19.8m recommended takeover.

Raisio said it intended to invest further in the Glisten business to enable the company to grow both organically and through further acquisitions.

“Glisten has had a good journey on the Alternative Investment Market since we founded and listed the business in June 2002 with turnover of £14.3m,” said chief executive Paul Simmonds (pictured).

“We believe this coming together with Raisio is exactly the right path for the business to take now.”

He added: “The fit [with Raisio] in terms of ambition, skills and capabilities is excellent and both parties will bring something to the other particularly in relation to access to market, branding and product development.”
