We now know that the atmosphere in which you drink wine affects how much you enjoy it (Bogof, 19 April). Some frankly bleedin’ obvious research explained why any ropey old cab sauv tastes nice when you’re on holiday, but not so much when you’re back in the bleak malaise of working life.

Key to the atmospheric experience is music. So what if your wine could come pre-loaded, as it were, with tunes?

Spanish winemaker Barahonda is on it. Its catchily titled 59h 35’ 03 is named after the length of time it has had music piped at it. Songs played to the wine (post-bottling, which must muffle the sound) included pieces by Fatoumata Diawara and Sigur Rós - so it should taste great to Radio 3 listeners.

Can serenading wine really change the way it tastes? If so, musicians could give fans a real taste of what they’re about. Anyone for a glass of Merle-ot Haggard?
