Wincanton has said its trading for the past three months has been in line with expectations, despite “competitive pressures” in the marketplace.

The logistics giant said its contract logistics arm had renewed a contract with Pernod Ricard and extended its partnership with Morrisons between April and July.

“Wincanton has started the year well and we are on track to continue to deliver our strategic plan,” said Wincanton CEO Eric Born.

“Last year, the group demonstrated its ability to increase profitability in a broadly flat economy. We intend to build on this operational improvement by maximising the efficiency of our assets and by continuing to add value to our customers by delivering innovative supply chain solutions which help them deal with the changes in their markets.

“While we expect the economy to remain challenging, we continue to progress along our path to maximise our operational performance and focus on free cash flow generation,” he added.
