Wincanton’s flexible warehousing service forms part of its new cloud-based services on its online eFulfilment platform

Logistics operator Wincanton has added several new cloud-based services as part of its online eFulfilment platform.

The new services improve its online shopping platform, and allow retailers to react quickly to changes in market demand.

An advance eFulfilment management system allows customers to trace products and scale up operations to cater for peak periods, as well as providing a range of delivery options for consumers. This includes a two-man delivery, assembly and packaging removal service.

Furthermore, Wincanton’s carrier management service allows customers to track their home delivery, store delivery, or click & collect orders.

An integrated ‘Supplier to Customer’ function also executes orders straight from manufacturer to consumer, without the retailer ever needing to stock inventory. This allows the retailer to offer a broader range of goods for sale, without having to invest more in stock and warehouse space.

Wincanton has also streamlined its returns policy, allowing consumers to choose how and when they return products, quickly refunding and recycling stock and helping the consumer to purchase different goods from the same retailer.

A flexible warehousing service also offers access to a trained body of staff and shared warehouse space to help retailers to expand quickly when necessary.

“It’s clear that the rapidly changing world of online sales is putting retailers under increasing pressure,” said Wincanton retail and consumer MD Liam McElroy. “They must adapt their portfolio quickly and at the lowest possible cost, while providing an outstanding customer experience across both delivery and returns, and at the same time keep the consumer focused on their next purchase.

“Our position as the largest British logistics company means that we can call on a wealth of internal and external expertise to help our retail customers respond to these challenges. We are constantly evaluating new technologies and partners who can combine their resource with ours, to deliver a compelling new service to address situations such as this. These additions to our eFulfilment offering demonstrate our ability to do just that.”
