Scotland’s football team already has a decent World Cup song courtesy of indie popsters Belle & Sebastian. But Irn-Bru’s effort is even punchier.

A chip shop owner and two of his customers set the scene, before boasting of their “wee secret weapon” – which is that “we’re made in Scotland, from girders”, of course.

The ad documents tournament prep with the brand’s trademark edge. A fan sells his dog to raise ticket money, a young girl is cut off on the cusp of a very rude description of previous Scotland sides, and for no obvious reason a man attempts smuggle a can of Irn-Bru through airport security in a very uncomfortable place.

It keeps getting better, and sillier: cultural clashes with the tournament’s hosts are addressed entertainingly. Then midfielder John McGinn pitches up to introduce… Susan Boyle singing about deep-fried hot dogs atop the Forth Bridge, before breakdancing while a guitar solo plays. What more could you possibly want?

Catchy, funny… brilliant.
