Bestway has spent £6m redeveloping its main distribution hub in Coventry.

The C&C giant has enlarged the site from 140,000 sq ft to 250,000 sq ft, giving its 52 Bestway and Batleys depots better availability.

"To be continuing to invest in our business in the midst of one of the worst recessions we have ever seen is a good indication of how we view things and proves we can still continue to provide the best prices, value and availability to our customers," said MD Younus Sheikh. "The increased space at Coventry will go a long way to enhance our availability and range to depots and onwards to our customers."

More suppliers are expected to deliver direct to the newly expanded hub rather than to Bestway's depots, which will allow Bestway to control its own distribution chain.

The hub is expected to create 80 additional jobs by the end of 2009.
