Asda was the only retailer of the big four to increase its share of the market over the four weeks of Easter, according to exclusive data for The Grocer from ACNielsen Homescan.

However, Asda’s total share of the grocery market declined 0.3% to 16.9% in the year to April 16, in contrast to Tesco’s 2.3% rise to 30% and Sainsbury’s constant of 15.9%.

The data revealed more misery for Morrisons after its share continued to fall - 2.7% down on last year - hitting an all-time low of 12% over Easter.
