Andrew Errington has been promoted to the role of MD at Cooltrader, the discount chain founded by Iceland CEO Malcolm Walker.

Errington has been trading director since the company was formed eight years ago. His promotion is part of a management restructure that also sees former Cooltrader MD Nick Canning, who is also marketing director at Iceland, become chairman.

Cooltrader's sales are predicted to break through the £50m barrier for the first time this year, with a predicted 30% uplift on the £38m of sales it notched up in the year to March 2008. Its EBITDA is predicted to exceed £1m for the first time this year.

"I am very excited about the role that Cooltrader can continue to play by offering big frozen and grocery brands to customers at even cheaper prices than the supermarkets usually offer in high street locations," Errington said.
