Scotland's first supermarket, which opened its doors 50 years ago, has received a £550,000 facelift.
Scotmid Co-op has refurbished the store, in Leven Street, Edinburgh, as part of its programme to modernise its 130-strong estate.
The store originally opened in 1959 as St Cuthbert's Co-operative Association, which became one of the founding co-op societies of Scotmid.
The store has a new hot food section and a new chilled area for beers and wines, as well as an increased range of fresh food and bakery products. "Scotmid prides itself on being a vital part of the community and we work with traders in the area to ensure an excellent shopping experience," said store manager Craig Thacker.
In April, Scotmid, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, reported a 49% jump in pre-tax profits to £9.1m on sales up 7% to £333m for the year to 31 January.
