Marks & Spencer is the most highly regarded company in the UK, according to a survey of nearly 2,000 consumers by the CBI.

The retailer topped the list, gaining twice as many mentions as second-placed John Lewis Partnership. Tesco and Asda also made it into the top 10, in fourth and sixth place respectively.

"M&S has coupled great products and service with Plan A, an ambitious but credible environmental and ethical campaign," said CBI chief Richard Lambert.
